WARRIORS WIN, BRENNAN KNOCKED OUT...

Heisman-Hopeful Colt Brennan was knocked out of tonight's game by a devastating hit in the 4th Quarter of Hawaii's WAC matchup with Fresno State (6-4, 5-2), but the 14th-Ranked Warriors (9-0, 6-0) remained perfect on the 2007 Season, Beating The Bulldogs 37-30.
Following the hit there was a 5 minute delay that required smelling salt, and the entire Medical Staff to attend to Brennan.
According to The University, Colt suffered a mild concusion and his status is day-to-day. Before the injury, Colt's 2nd Touchdown Pass of the night, a 5 yarder to Davone Bess, tied Ty Detmer's NCAA Career-T-D Record with 121. U-H improved to 9-and-O on the year and 6-and-O in Conference. Warriors play ON THE ROAD against Nevada on Friday.

Here's a link to the ESPN Sporscenter Hi-Lites

Thanks for the support guys.
Here's the latest that I reported on the news. The school is calling it a "Mild Concussion" and is listed as day to day. However, Coach Jones in his Post-Game Radio Interview said that HE FEELS that Colt is okay and will play against Nevada on Friday. The question now is how severe is the concussion. Doctors advise not to fly following severe concussions. But according to a Hospital medical staffer that I talked to, Concussions can be down-graded. We'll keep you updated though and again, Much Mahalo for the support guys.

I didn't get to see the hit, but I watched it on ESPN's website and it was brutal. :( I am so disturbed and hope he's ok. Bobby and Robert Kekaula... scaring the crap out of us with the "grade 3 concussion" rumor.

It's hard to believe what JJ said after seeing the hit...

On a happier note, check out my green spam musubis!!! http://flickr.com/photos/pikkopots/1962905664/

Well, it wasn't a rumor that Colt had a "grade 3 concussion" Medical Staff on the scene said that a "grade 3" was the initial thought. From what I've learned any loss of conciousness warrants a "grade 3" It looks that it was then downgraded from there. We'll keep you posted though Pikko and Much Mahalo.

I think the state slept un easy last night. Everyone knows that Hawaii's BCS hopes lie on Colt Brennan's medical folder. Best of Luck Colt!

i'm feeling like he wont be ready for nevada. the flying is one thing, but one day less rest adds to it. Unfortunately, it was his heroic efforts that bailed UH out in 2 previous road games.

Hey, how does one get on the Leahy and Leahy Hall of Fame. i was an All-State placekicker at Iolani, will that qualify me?

Hahaha. Welcome abord John! Hall of Famers are guests and loyal callers o the radio show/loyal friends on the blog. You're on the right track my friend.

Aloha!

Guess i'm not a "true-green" fan 'cause I didn't pay to see the game here on Kauai....but, I just wanna know if the team is too disciplined. After Colt was knocked out, I thought that the defense would do like baseball and get one of the Bulldogs out of the game. Am I being too harsh/dirty??

Anonymous said...

I don't think it was dirty though. That's probably why there was no retaliation.

I gotta agree with Ano on that. One could argue that he was "head hunting" but the hit itself was clean...Just a brutal whack by Marcus Riley...A name UH fans will remember for a long time.

I hope its not like BYU a few years back. They were going for a BCS game and lost Luke Staley before they played us. Then got smashed.

I saw the hit on ESPN news. In regular motion it looked clean but, they played it in slow-mo and it (kind of) looked dirty.
So, I guess really its one of those borderline calls that is going to divide fans.
I'd say it was a clean hit, though.

What's wrong with seeing Hawaii and Kansas??? Two undefeated teams.
The BCS should be renamed.
(BCS--BETTER CHANGED the SHIT).

Lava, Even as a Hawaii fan you have to see that even if UH goes undefeated, how could you give them a chance to play for a National Championship? You look at LSU who has played 6 teams in the Top 25 beating 5 of them and the season's not even over yet. How do you deny them a chance at the Title? When a team like UH who has played one team with a winning record all season, and by the time the season is over, if they run the table, would have beaten 2 or 3. Just like Colt getting invited to New York would be like winning the Heisman, because of the system...UH playing in a BCS Game would be like winning the National Title.
