LAS VEGAS BOWL PREVIEW...
Over the Next Few Weeks, We are going to Preview College Football Bowl Games that SHOWCASE players/coaches with Hawaii Ties...
PIONEER LAS VEGAS BOWL:
UCLA (6-6, 5-4 PAC-10) vs. BYU (10-2, 8-0 MWC)
December 23rd 3:00pm (ESPN)
The Cougars and Bruins hook up in "Sin City" in a rematch of a September game where UCLA handed BYU its 2nd and final loss of the season, 27-17.
Since that game the two teams went in opposite directions.
The Cougars finished the year with 9 straight victories including wrapping up Mountain West play a perfect 8-0. The Heart and Soul of BYU's success has come via Runningback, Harvey Unga. The Stocky-Speedster has rushed for 1,211 yards on the year with 13 touchdowns, and also caught 41 balls for 629 yards.
Since that September victory in Los Angeles, Bruins sputtered to a 2-6 finish, and has since fired Head Coach Karl Dorrell.
Bruins run a two quarterback system, but both juniors have been plagued by injuries all season. Ben Olson finished the year 71/147 for 1,040 yards, 7 td's and 6 interceptions. Patrick Cowan went 72/135 accounting for 696 yards, 4 scores and 2 picks.
